In 2015, the trial of 130 people killed in the Paris attacks in France began. This is considered to be the largest bombing in France since World War II. News from the BBC.
Thirteen people, including Salah Abdesalam, the only surviving suspect in the 20-member terror attack, were taken to court. They were produced in court on Wednesday morning amid tight security.
Before the trial began, it was described as one of the
greatest events in modern-day France.
The case will be heard for 140 days in the next nine months.
In this case, 330 lawyers, 1600 victims and relatives of the victims, 300
witnesses will present their statements. Among them is the then President of
France Francois
Hollande.
Ahead of the trial, then-French President Francois Hollande said it was "very important" for the victims of the attack, which he called "a war act."
The Islamic of State (IS) claimed of the responsibility for
the this attack. The attack on November 13, 2015, targeted concert halls, large
stadiums, restaurants and bars.
